Frequently Asked Questions
What are probiotics and prebiotics ?
Probiotics are live bacteria, usually found in yogurts or yogurt drinks, which ‘top up’ your levels of good bacteria in the colon. Prebiotics are a special type of carbohydrate which serves as food for your body’s own good bacteria, helping them to grow and multiply.
What are the benefits of prebiotics over probiotics?
Prebiotics are ‘non-digestable’. This means that they travel through your digestive system and reach your colon intact, exactly where they are needed. However, probiotics are live bacteria so may be destroyed or digested in the stomach or small intestine before they reach the colon.
How many different types of prebiotics are there?
Prebiotics fall into two main categories.
- Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS)
- Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS)
While there are numerous FOS prebiotics available and a handful of GOS prebiotics, Bimuno is the only second generation trans GOS prebiotic.
What is the difference between Bimuno and other prebiotics?
As prebiotics go Bimuno has the most potent bifidogenic (Bifidobacteria promoting) effect of any known prebiotic. This in itself is impressive, but Bimuno is far more than even that!
Bimuno has a unique dual action. This means it not only energises your immunity boosting Bifidobacteria but by a unique anti-adhesive action it also reduces the levels of ‘bad’ bacteria in your gut at the same time.
Does Bimuno increase ‘good’ gut bacteria species other than Bifidobacteria?
Yes, Bimuno also has a strong prebiotic (bacteria increasing) effect on species such as Lactobacilli which are also known to be beneficial for gut health.
What is Bimuno?
Bimuno is the most technologically advanced prebiotic available. It is a unique second generation prebiotic which works by feeding and energising the immunity boosting bacteria in your gut whilst simultaneously reducing your bad bacteria .This aids gut health, general well-being and provides a natural support to your body’s self-defences.
What is a second generation prebiotic?
Bimuno is the only second generation prebiotic. It goes beyond standard prebiotics by exhibiting additional properties not present in other prebiotics such as its ability to help force out bad bacteria.
